this is what i am worried will be going through my mind in less then a month.
i have always wanted a big christmas tree but since i was a full fledged jw till 5 yrs ago i never had one.
i just last year was able to get a small table top tree for christmas.
What can they say...the tree speaks for itself.

When my darling husbands mother who is a mega Witness showed up and we had a Christmas Tree....she didn't say a thing. She didn't even acknowledge it.
The second year, she said something to the effect of pretty tree.

Your comment made me laugh at loud...my husband has a CDL license and they do a very thorough physical exam..
The last doctor who did it was a very big African American ex college basketball player....I swear my poor husband didn't walk right for a couple days! His hands were about the same size as a basketball!
It made me feel like there is justice in the world for all the things that doctors think up to do with women and our bodies when we are pregnant!

details are sketchy yet, but my brother tim, whom many of you portlanders have now met, had a fire in his apartment this morning.
the damage isn't total, but its devastating.
he did not have rental insurance, and the fire marshall says the cause is an extension cord he had daisy-chained into a surge protector.
I used to volunteer for the Red Cross and they would often help people out by giving them food, clothing, housing vouchers, and even money to get going again. Have they been in contact? He might need to call them if they haven't.
I am sorry for your brother - a fire is absolutely devestating. I'm glad he is okay.
You're a good sister for going to help him.

When I had my 2nd son I basically had the whole state of Rhode Island in my cookie jar.
I would say that in my humble opinion...women are not as gentle as men.
I would rather have a man because some of the women are just jerks - especially if they have had a baby...They don't mind at all being rough and aren't as sympathetic listening to issues - especially if they've never had any medical issues.
The best doctor I ever had was an OB/GYN who's wife had the pregnancy from hell...he treated all of his patients like queens. And he always talked to both me and my husband the same...no creepiness at all.

i've been faded for a few years now and have celebrated some holidays.
recently i've been very close with a lady and we are hitting it off good.
nothing serious enough for a romantic relationship but who knows?

I personally like to be pampered....so a gift certificate for a massage, manicure or pedicure...
Or a gift basket full of yummy smelling lotions, soaps, bubble baths...is also nice.
A necklace is a nice gift too...

A few have mentioned wondering how their JW mate would deal with things if they needed blood.
I have sent a legal document to all the hospitals in my area saying that I will take blood and that my children will take blood. My husband knows that I make all the medical decisions for our children.
This is not only because of his religion but because I have a medical background and understand these things better than him.
I also sent a legal document to my parents stating what my wishes are for myself and my children in the event that I am no longer alive so they will have this to help protect my children if I cannot.
I have explained repeatedly to my husband how traumas work and if a person has lost blood volume they don't have the time to wait for saline and other things to build up their blood volume again. The argument is basically lost on him because he has been spoonfed the JW beliefs since birth and this brainwashing overrides common sense.

anybody else love this movie as much as i did??
i think it says a lot about the type of person you are, or at least what kind of sense of humor you have, if you liked this movie or hated it.. so far, i've not met anyone who has been neutral on this movie - usually they either love it or hated it!
My mother actually watched this movie with her best friends kids when she was babysitting and called me and told me I had to watch it ASAP.
I thought it was so funny and he reminded me too much of a couple of boys I knew in school.
I don't really get the marketing campaign behind the movie....they are selling shirts that say "Vote for Pedro" in the little boys section at Target. My 5 year old hasn't seen the movie and certainly doesn't get "it"
But I do think the John Huges movies of my generation...16 candles, better off dead, breakfast club still reign supreme!
